CLIENTS FOCUS OF NEW AGENCY WORKERS CAMPAIGN

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation is to focus on the client perspective in the next phase of its ongoing Agency Work Regulations campaign.

Recent focus groups and events in which the REC has been involved have provided an important update on how public and private sector employers are approaching the forthcoming Agency Worker Regulations.

The recent Managing a Temporary Workforce conference was the latest in a series of events that has enabled the REC to get feedback from more than 900 employers over the last year.

Specific priorities for client organisations include reviewing internal procedures for booking and managing temporary staff, planning ahead in terms of direct impact on costs, understanding increased legal risks and being clear on how the 12-week derogation period will be flagged up.

REC Director of External Relations Tom Hadley said: "One of the overriding messages from employers has been the need to work closely with their recruitment partners.

"This is good news for the industry and opens the door for recruiters who are ahead of the game and fully briefed to demonstrate real added value. Many employers are now in ‘impact-assessment mode’ which is why it is crucial to address common misconceptions about the new regulations.

“"As well as working with the incoming Government to influence the final outcome and the official guidance, we will continue to generate regular insights into how employers are approaching equal treatment requirements and the support they are looking for from their recruitment providers.”"
