Global Manufacturing Company, Gloucester
In July 2016 Jack graduated with First Class Honours in Aerospace Engineering from the University of West of England.
After completing his degree and moving back home, Jack Terrington found finding a job that used his skills and was relevant to his degree difficult.
“You hope to come out of University and be able to start a career in something that is at least somewhat relevant to what you’ve been training to do”, commented Jack. “The reality is that the job market is tough, there are a lot of people going for the same roles and many companies aren’t interested unless you have a lot of work experience on top of a degree.”
Keen to work even if it wasn’t his dream role, Jack continued his contract in a warehouse in Bristol whilst searching for alternative employment. He applied for various roles including some basic warehouse work closer to home with Teamwork Selection.
“Once I applied for work through Teamwork Selection, I was invited in to register with the team so they could get to know me better and understand exactly what I was looking for,” said Jack.
Seeing his potential could reach further than the vacancy he was applying for, after meeting Jack, Recruitment Consultant Robin Johnson put his CV in front of a large manufacturing company based in Gloucester.
Robin explains, “We’ve got a great relationship with our clients, so we know exactly the type of people and skills they would be interested in, even if they’re not actively recruiting for a role at the time. I was convinced Jack’s abilities and personality would fit in well with this particular company’s culture so I wanted to introduce them to each other as soon as possible.”
Within a week of having his first interview, Jack was offered a job as a Junior Engineer – a role using his university degree with copious progression opportunities. “I’m so grateful to Robin and Teamwork Selection for helping me secure my dream job – I’d definitely recommend them to anyone looking for work.”
