A sea of pink brightened up venues across Gloucestershire on Sunday April 17th, as the World’s first ever Ballethon took place in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Over 50 dancers donned ballet shoes and pink t-shirts to join in three hours of continuous ballet, raising over £8000 for charity.
Katherine MacInnes, who organised the unique event commented, “I am thrilled that so many people signed up to join in this ‘world’s first’. It was a great morning, everyone enjoyed themselves and it’s brilliant to have raised so much for Cancer Research UK. The money raised will make a huge difference and hopefully fund extra research into the disease.”
The Ballethon took place in three different locations across Gloucestershire – Janet Marshall Dance Studios in Cheltenham, The Body Workshop Pilates Studio in Cirencester and Ballet-Fit Dance Studio in Stroud.
Katherine continued, “Dancers of all ages and abilities took part, from absolute beginners to accomplished dancers. I couldn’t have done it without them, as well as the help of the teachers and our sponsors.”
Gloucestershire based recruitment agency Teamwork Selection and drinks manufacturer Bottlegreen both sponsored the event whilst local photographer Rachel Jenkins, from Little Lightbox took complimentary photos of the event.
